چکیده
Abstract Electrohydrodynamics is crucial in many nanofluidic and biotechnological applications. In such small scales, the complexity due to coupling of fluid dynamics with ions increased by relevance thermal fluctuations. Here, we present a mesoscale method based on Dissipative Particle Dynamics (DPD) model fluid. Two scalar quantities, corresponding number positive negative carried each DPD particle, are added standard formulation. We introduced general framework that, given definition free-energy allows derive fluctuation-dissipation relation expression for ionic fluxes between particles. This provides link system its equilibrium properties. The then validated simulating planar electroosmotic flow cases overlapping non electric double layers. It shown that using Van der Waals equation state effect finite size can be accounted, leading significant effects concentration velocity profiles respect ideal solution case. Graphic abstract

An alternative approach to dissipative particle dynamics
– We describe a simulation method based on combining the ideas behind Andersen’s thermostat and dissipative particle dynamics (DPD). The result is a Galilean invariant thermostat that conserves momentum and enhances viscosity. It therefore displays the same characteristics as DPD. Our method differs primarily in that it satisfies detailed balance by construction. If a simple scheme is used to s...
متن کاملInvestigation of particles size effects in Dissipative Particle Dynamics (DPD) modelling of colloidal suspensions
In the Dissipative Particle Dynamics (DPD) simulation of suspension, the fluid (solvent) and colloidal particles are replaced by a set of DPD particles and therefore their relative sizes (as measured by their exclusion zones) can affect the maximal packing fraction of the colloidal particles. In this study, we investigate roles of the conservative, dissipative and random forces in this relative...
